Gem fossicking tour

Come and join us for a morning dig at our mining claim adjacent to O’Brien’s Creek fossicking area.

This is a morning fossicking session to introduce you to finding gems such as Topaz – Aquamarine and Quartz.

Our claim is roughly 42K traveling from Mt Surprise on gravel road.

Suitable for the ardent fossicker as well as the complete novice. Children welcome.

Easy fitness level with short distance of uneven rock walking.

Vision and mobility impaired can be catered for.

Inclusions & Costs

•      Leaves our shop daily at 8am and returns approximately 1pm.
•      No licences or permits are required.
•      What you find you keep. 
•      All Equipment is supplied.
•      Guide stays with you all the time.
•      Morning 'smoko' provided.
•     Gems to find include Topaz Aquamarine Smoky Quartz

Go It Alone

There is a huge area set aside on Mt Surprise cattle property for public fossicking. By either taking your own gear or hiring ours you can spend as long as you wish looking for gem-stones. As with our tour you have to travel some 40K on gravel road from Mt Surprise.

If you prefer to try your luck on your own we can assist you by:

•      Issuing a fossickers licence (Gov controlled pricing), family for 1 month $9.05
•      Hire you a set of equipment ($22 daily)
•      Give you a mud-map of the area
•      Show you what you are looking for
